Ace team puts true meaning to ‘red vested heroes’ during catastrophic storm

Southeast Texas is bracing for another round of record flooding and devastation as Tropical Storm Harvey continues its deluge of pounding rains over the nation’s fourth largest city.

Ace team responds with preparation and perseverance

Through an incredible collaboration between southeast Texas Ace retailers and Ace corporate staffers, three large truckloads of storm-related goods were pre-selected and delivered into Houston on Saturday, Aug. 26 for distribution to area stores. Bill Murff, owner of Cypress Ace Hardware in Houston commented to the team, “What you’re doing is amazing. In 32 years, I’ve never seen anything like it.”

On Sunday night, Cypress Ace Hardware posted the following to its Facebook page, “We will be open tomorrow…Whether you need supplies or just a dry place to take a minute, we are here. We are not leaving.” The store had previously shared that an emergency shipment of pumps, tarps, sandbags, generators, gas cans, batteries and other storm-related goods had arrived at the height of what was then a Category 4 storm.

Ace teams are continuing to work around the clock to obtain real-time updates from all affected Ace stores, assess the region and determine how quickly deliveries can resume. A heightened focus is being placed on getting necessary merchandise to some of the hardest hit areas, including Corpus Christi, Texas.
